Students bound for the Costa Brava: art, culture and shopping again...
In April 2001, a coach full of year 10, 11 and 12 students left Hackney, en route for Sunny Spain. After a tiresome journey, over the seas and the mountains and made bearable by frequent breaks, we arrived to our destination: Rosas, a small seaside resort on the Costa Brava.
We were so tired from spending the night on the coach that we went straight to bed. The days were full of things to do: Spanish lessons in the morning , cultural or recreational visits in the afternoon. The favourite pastime of the average teenager is shopping, and I never thought that I would actually enjoy visiting a museum! But the Dali museum was amazing, his paintings both shocking and astonishing. He really is one of a kind.
In Barcelona, the Park Guell was so unusual, with mosaic benches and weirdly shaped walls, as if they were melting. On the last night, there was a disco organised, and it confirmed what we suspected all along: teachers can't dance...
For most of us it was a valuable experience, definitely worth it for those of us who do not feel confident enough to stay with an exchange family. When is the next trip, Miss?
