Gifted and Talented Pupils

The school runs a highly successful programme for pupils on its Gifted and Talented Programme. This is funded by the Government's Excellence in Cities scheme. The top 10% of pupils are placed on a register, which is compiled through teacher recommendation and from the results of pre-entry and Key Stage 2 and 3 rests.

The register includes those who show evidence of their ability in a particular academic subject and/or a range of subjects, or a talent in sport, music, drama or art. The register is reviewed twice yearly and parents are regularly encouraged to support the participation of their children.

Pupils on the register benefit from differentiated extended class work, master classes. Weekend courses, summer schools, specialised outings, extra out-of-school clubs and additional GCSE classes after school.
